The 2011 season has already seen several significant injuries to superstar players, and yet another one took place this week when Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks injured his left ankle and was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

The All-Star second baseman injured his ankle after hitting the first base bag awkwardly on Wednesday night against the Chicago Cubs. He was taken for x-rays that came back negative, but the team is still awaiting word on his MRI results. Weeks is expected to be out between three and six weeks.

Weeks, 28, is enjoying another fine season in 2011, hitting .272/.346/.478 with a .825 OPS. His 19 home runs is tops among all second baseman in the big leagues.

Milwaukee will use veterans Craig Counsell and Josh Wilson at second base moving forward, but could be actively shopping for a second baseman as the trade deadline nears. The team also recalled Eric Farris from Triple-A Nashville to take Rickie's roster spot and provide more infield depth.

Fantasy owners searching for a quick fix at second base can take a look at Jamey Carroll of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but his playing time is questionable. Fantasy managers can also give Mark Ellis, Jeff Keppinger, and Sean Rodriguez a look.
