Beltre, 32, has a Grade 1 left hamstring strain. He was injured running to third base against against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night. It's the fifth time in his career he's landed on the disabled list. He's eligible to return from the DL on August 7, but the team expects him to miss between two and three weeks.
In 100 games this season, Adrian is hitting .276/.318/.505 with a .823 OPS and 20 home runs. Since the All Star break, he's hitting .310/.364/.586 in 33 plate appearances. He currently leads the Rangers in total bases (196) and RBI (76) and is second on the team in home runs (20) and runs scored (61).
Texas recalled Chris Davis
from Triple-A Round Rock to replace Beltre on the roster. Davis, 25, has split the past two seasons between Triple-A and the big leagues. He hit .368/.405/.824 with 24 home runs in 48 games at Triple-A this season. Davis has raked at the Triple-A level, but hasn't been capable of rolling those numbers over to the big league level. In 259 games over four big league seasons, Davis is hitting .249/.302/.460 with a .763 OPS.
Davis is starting at third base for the first night that Beltre is out of the lineup, but the team will likely have Davis split time with Michael Young
at third base. Young served as the everyday third baseman prior to the team signing Beltre during the off-season.
Although Beltre will be missed by fantasy owners, the hamstring tear isn't severe and he'll likely only miss a few weeks. If you're an owner searching for a replacement, take a look at Danny Valencia, Chase Headley, or Ty Wigginton.
