Mike Trout Promoted to the Angels

Regular center fielder Peter Bourjos
injured his hamstring stretching a double into a triple late in the game. Bourjos' status is currently unknown and could be headed towards the disabled list.
The 19-year-old outfielder is currently ranked by Baseball America as the No. 2 best prospect overall according to their Midseason Top 50 Prospect List. Here's what Baseball America recently said about Trout in their midseason report:
"In many years, this linebacker-sized center fielder would rank No.1"
Trout, at age 19, will become the youngest player in the major leagues when he plays his first inning against the Mariners tonight. Trout has spent the 2011 season at Double-A Arkansas, hitting .324/.415/.534 with a .950 OPS in 75 games. In addition to tearing up Texas League pitching for three months, Trout also has 28 stolen bases.
The young outfielder has a combination of speed and power. In three full seasons between Single and Double-A ball, Trout is hitting .338/.423/.503 with 20 home runs and 97 stolen bases. Last season, while splitting time between low-A and high-A, he hit a combined .341/.428/.490 with 56 steals.
Whether or not Trout stays a few days on the big club or never returns to the minor leagues remains to be seen, but either way, it's an exciting time to be a baseball fan.
