The 2011 season has already seen several significant injuries to superstar players, and yet another one took place when Cleveland Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo fractured his left thumb.

The outfielder's struggling season continued in San Francisco when Choo was hit on the left hand with a pitch from San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez.

He landed on the 15-day disabled list immediately following the game.  Multiple sources, including Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal have reported that Choo will likely need surgery and could miss between six and eight weeks.

Choo has posted offensive numbers well below his career numbers, hitting .244/.333/.353 in 72 games this season.  Even with Choo's slumping offensive numbers, the Indians still have a one game lead in the American League Central.

Outfielder Travis Buck was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Choo's roster spot.  Right field will see a platoon of Austin Kearns, Buck, and Shelley Duncan.

Fantasy owners searching for an outfielder should consider Roger Bernadina, Ty Wigginton, and Jon Jay, among others.
