Multiple sources are reporting that utility-infielder Juan Uribe has agreed to terms on a three-year, $21 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers pending a physical, which should take place tomorrow.  This is the fourth signing the Dodgers have made in this early off season, having added pitcher Jon Garland and re-signing pitchers Hiroki Kuroda and Ted Lilly.

Uribe, 31, hit just .248/.310/.440 in 521 at-bats for the San Francisco Giants last year, but did have 24 home runs and drove in 85 runners.  The Dodgers signed Uribe more for his ability to play anywhere on the infield, rather than his ability to perform at the plate.

This signing certainly is a sign that Ryan Theriot, who the Dodgers still have team control over, will either be traded before the arbitration deadline or be released on Thursday.  Around the infield the Dodgers should be strong defensively with James Loney at first, Uribe playing second base, Rafael Furcal at shortstop and Casey Blake manning the hot corner.  If Furcal misses any time due to injury, Uribe would more than likely slide over to shortstop.

Because Uribe was a Type-B free agent that was offered arbitration by the San Francisco Giants, the Giants will be picking up a supplemental pick in next year's draft.

Uribe has collected 120 at-bats in Dodger Stadium over his career, in which he's hit .258/.308/.367 with three home runs.  With that in mind, his fantasy value is very similar to what it was in 2010.  He will be able to contribute close to 20 home runs, and depending where Don Mattingly pencils him into the batting order, a similar RBI total, which was 85 in 2010.  He will be a legit option for a middle infield spot in most NL-Only leagues, because of the potential home run total.  He should not be touched in mixed leagues with less than 15 teams, unless you have an injury or need a bench spot.
