After shipping long-time ace Roy Oswalt off to Philadelphia yesterday, the Houston Astros sent another tenured member of their squad out on Friday, dealing first baseman Lance Berkman to the Yankees for minor league pitcher Mark Melancon and infielder Jimmy Paredes.

The Chicago White Sox made a splash in the trade market on Friday, though they didn't get the bat they've been seeking. Instead, they acquired Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Edwin Jackson, in exchange for pitcher Daniel Hudson and minor league pitcher David Holmberg.

The former number one pitching trade chip for this deadline has officially found a new home. Roy Oswalt, who was rumored to go to a number of National League teams in the past few weeks, will land in Philadelphia, giving the Phillies a 1-2 punch at the top of their rotation of Roy Halladay and Roy Oswalt . Coming back to the Astros is Left-handed pitcher J.A. Happ , Minor League Outfielder Anthony Gose and Minor League Shortstop Jonathon Villar.

Today, the 606 presents an AL West battle down in Arlington Texas, as the Athletics send a surprising 23 year-old righty to the mound against the division-leading Rangers and a converted lefty reliever coming off of a great outing.
